ACTIVITY 1: Healthy Food Collage
List of what you will need:
Find a comfortable spot at the front of the classroom on the mat, sitting next to someone who won’t distract you easily. As a whole class, you will go through Australia’s Guide to Healthy Eating with your teacher. Make sure to put on your thinking caps and don’t hesitate to ask plenty of questions.
Step 2:
Using your HASS workbooks and selected images of healthy foods, you will create a collage featuring various foods from the five food groups outlined in Australia’s Guide to Healthy Eating.
Consider including:
- HASS workbook
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Led pencils, coloured pencils, and textas.
- Selected cut out images either from magazines, food packaging, or printed images of various foods.

Review what are the five food groups inline with Australia’s Guide to Healthy Eating. Once again, if clarification is needed with the five different food groups, be sure to ask lots of questions.
Step 2:
Plan and structure a healthy balanced meal plan that incorporates foods from the five different food groups for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. Use/ fill out the designated template provided for you.
Consider including:
- HASS workbook
- Template of a Meal Plan
- Gluestick
- Scissors
- Led pencil
Review what are the five food groups inline with Australia’s Guide to Healthy Eating. Once again, if clarification is needed with the five different food groups, be sure to ask lots of questions.

- At least more than 1 option in each of the designated times.
- Drawings/ printed pictures of the food chosen to go with the name.
- A reasoning of the chosen foods.
ACTIVITY 3: Healthy Snack Logbook
List of what you will need:
Ensure you collect your Healthy Snack Logbook at the end of the day on Monday to start analysing, identifying and recording your healthy snacks at home.
Step 2:
Over the next week, you'll use your 'Healthy Snack Logbook' to track and record the healthy snacks you eat. As you do this, you'll analyse and identify the benefits of these snacks, helping you gain valuable experience and insight into living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Next Monday, one week from now, bring in your logbook to discuss your experience and the knowledge you’ve gained from eating healthy snacks. Share the benefits you noticed in your daily lifestyle during the week.
Remember: to log your healthy snacks throughout the week! Ask your parents/carers to remind you if you might forget.
